Turtle Competition Combines Fun with Science
20 May 2013The Territory Wildlife Park (TWP) is offering Territorians the chance to release two turtles into the wild through a new competition on its Facebook page.

All you have to do is ‘like’ the TWP Facebook page and name a juvenile Flatback turtle that will be released into the sea off Bare Sand Island, 80km south west of Darwin, this Saturday. -
Territory Parks comes ALIVE!
10 May 2013The Parks and Wildlife Commission of the Northern Territory has launched its Ranger talk program for 2013! The program is called “Territory Parks Alive” and includes FREE walks and talks in many Parks and Reserves across the NT. The program is an opportunity for visitors and locals to meet a local Ranger and learn more about our special places. We have talks about termites, rare plants and animals, geology, fossils, Aboriginal culture, bush tucker and lots, lots more. The talks come in all different forms including talks around the camp fire, slideshows at night, guided walks and hands on activities. Berry Springs open for swimming
The Parks and Wildlife Commission of the NT advises that Berry Springs Nature Park will be open for swimming from today.

Regional Chief Ranger, Mr Nigel Weston said the popular swimming spot is now open to the public following the completion of estuarine (saltwater) crocodile surveys and water quality testing, after the regular Wet Season closure. - Read More -

Wangi Falls and the Lost City 4WD Track re opened
8 May 2013The Parks and Wildlife Commission of the NT advises that Wangi Falls is now open for swimming and the Lost City 4WD Track in Litchfield National Park is now open for the Dry Season. Acting District Ranger, Ms Julie Heran said the Wangi Falls Plunge Pool is closed to the public for swimming every Wet Season due to extreme conditions including fast flowing water, and the likely presence of saltwater (estuarine) crocodile and the Lost City 4WD track is closed due to flooding and access issues.

2 May 2013One of the Territory’s most spectacular tourist attractions has reopened to the public.
Known throughout the world for its pristine white sandy beaches, colourful cliff-lines and sparkling blue waters teeming with unique marine life, Garig Gunak Barlu National Park, was the first park in the world to be declared under the Ramsar Convention* because of its significant wetlands.
